I reckon Trek is spot on, but Stan Honey is one of the words best naviguessers, so better than good chance he could have been setting the position for the holes ahead of them the whole time.
Commanche was built to run hot angles, where the skinny guys can ddw all day long, so she will always be out on the edges banging the corners. With the right angles, prob no deeper than 150TWA, she is near untouchable, but square up that angle by say 10 or 15 degrees and it's goodnight Irene.
This is proving to be a fascinating race.
