ACID WASH
CLEAN FRESHWATER WASH
CUT AND POLISH (car stuff designed for f/glass)
WAX COAT brand....MRS MCGUIRE is the best for marine environment.

this is my yearly procedure and I allways get complimented on the shine and
longevity of shine and beading of water.

Paul.

make sure u dilute the acid down with water .. acid will onlt remove the yellow rust or scum stain on the hull .. the cutting and polishing with bring up the shine ... if the gellcoat feels chalky u may need to rub it with a very fine grade of wet and dry sand paper before u start the polishing u can also but a product from 3M with is a cutting and polishing in one .. works nicely .. or a polish seperatly called autogloom also works ..

Not sure where in NSW you are and if this product is available to you. Commercial fishing boats use a product called "Metal Gleam" made by Nowra chemicals. Its a mixture of acids including phosphoric. I use it to clean out the bait tanks, they are white flowcoated and get a dirty brown colour after awhile. Drain the tanks and slop on a mixture of this stuff diluted with water and it comes up white. Its also used on the boats sides to clean off rust marks etc prior to repainting.

If your close by I have almost 20 litres down stairs, I often give it away to other yachties.

pull the boat out on the hardstand .wet and dry with 1200 then buff using K&N extra cut fiberglass polish and an electric polisher ...this will bring the gellcoat up to as new.....Been told by a reputable fiberglass boat builder this does the tick and have done this myself,,,important do not use a silicon based polish.

Thanks for the advice.

Can you advise the issue with silicon polish?

Can't remember why ,but I do specifically remember him saying "DO NOT USE SILICON BASED POLISH'' .
He uses the K&N brand ,I 've been using this stuff on gelcoat for the past 13 years and highly rate the stuff ,you gotta make sure you shake the stuff up and it feels like sand is mixed in with it ,really brings a dull finish and minor scratches up like brand new.
