hi ladies and gents , I have just overhauled my gemini binnacle compass . Under the bottom diaphram there are two rods at 90 degrees to each other on these rods are two smaller pins at 90 degrees to the rods . I presume they are to adjust something but I dont know what. there is a screwdriver slot on the outer shell to turn the rods,Any help would be appreciated, thanks

They are compensator adjustment rods, used for counteracting stray magnetic currents, thereby tuning your compass to get an accurate reading.

If your compass was reading correctly before your overhaul and you haven't changed the adjustment rods position in any way and have added nothing magnetic close to the compass then it should still read correctly. Most parts for the Gemini compass are no longer available.

They are mainly for adjusting during a compass swing. If your boat is steel they would need checking but a "glass boat is not worth worrying about unless you require a deviation card for survey.
