Buy a Reefit and you'll never have that issue ;)
We have pulled apart units over 10 years old with no problem at all!!
When you look at the Reefit website
www.almasts.com.au/furling-systems/ there is a lot of detailed information and the quality of the components in the photo's look pretty good
It is good to see an Aussie company making and selling something in Australia as opposed to selling something made overseas
If i was in the market for a furler i would have a good look at this product
Regards Don
We (I work for Almasts) make a furler that is head and shoulders above most, it's just convincing people that not buying the import is actually better.
Just to my right from where I am sitting is the CAD program for the furlers, we CNC router or lathe nearly all the parts here, all the materials in Oz and on top of that they are cheaper than the others!!
The other advantage is assembly. We can go up the mast, remove the old furler, make a new forestay, assemble the furler and then go back up the mast to haul the new one up and install, 2 people less than 3 hours. You can also install ours from the boat and slide up the forestay!!
