does any recon its any good the forecast for bass strait is totally different to all other models i have seen meteye interactive weather etc

I use the Professional subscription to predictwind. This gives 10 day out weather gribs using 4 models or 2 models ie GFS and CMC and then those base models tweaked using predictwind algorythms. The grib files can be downloaded for user defined areas using very low bandwidth email delivery which can then be used for routing using a grib viewer and routing software such as Expedition. The low bandwidth email request and reply can be sent via satellite service or HF with Pactor Modem.
The Predictwind Pro subscription also has an online weathetr routing and departure planning service that allows you to plot your trip waypoints including departure and destination and departure time. Departure planning gives you similar info but with departure scenario each day for the following 4 days from initial departure time.
For coastal cruising I find that this service gives me a much broader "weather window" for trip planning.
As with all forecasting you have to temper the forecast with your own experience and keep a weather eye open and watch the barometer as this is the most reliable pre warning available.
When looking at multiple models look for consistency amongst forecast and also track the consistency of the forecast with the actual weather systems as they unfold.
Bit of a high sitting over the top of us at Easter equals pretty stable weather.

What was I saying about variance in the models being cause for alarm. Think I am going to have a close look at the forecast from all sources over next 24 hours cause there is too much variation for my comfort. and I dont like that low pressure cell sitting to the East of Tas Thursday night.

This is a particularly good site. Just set in your area of operation. If you use it for free you only get a couple of days forecast but if you pay I think it extends to 5 days.

+ 1 for buoyweather have tested that in the past and it is quite good a lot of the pro fishermen down here use it as well .

but personally prefer BOM they are pretty spot on !!!!!!
