Well I kept right away from the pounding the Yanmar YSE's got recently,
Just reinstalled mine. Love it
Have marked the coupling where the prop is in the vertical position and am about to make up a wooded shaft lock.
Am thinking of a piece of 30 mm by 50mm oak. 25 mm hole rip the wood down the middle.
Hinge it and clamp with either pull lines or some sort of handle.
Any suggestions

That must be the most rust free YSE on the planet! Even if you have a two bladed prop there is not much to be gained by locking it. I would be more concerned about the gate valves with plastic tails and single hose clamps!

Yes double clamping is a good idea, talked last week to someone who's boat almost sank on its mooring. Motor ruined ouch.

Lignum Vitae was used for bearings and old bowling balls are made of Lignum Vitae. That or a block of Red Ironbark, or an old redgum fence post.
