Just wondering if any have seen this american sailing supplies website, it is advertising heavily . It has very intricate inventory and pricing is excellent. Some of the products are not available here, has any body dealt with this site?
or is it a scam

I would be interested to hear of your experience if you did decide to go ahead with them - yes their prices do look great.

I placed an order with them last year with the payment to be processed thru paypal. i then recieved an email saying their paypal facility was playing up & would i please process my payment with a credit card.
it was then that i decided to google "sound boatworks reviews"
not good....

so i chickened out and bought the stuff thru a UK site at only slightly more cost, but considerably less than what i would have paid for it in the lucky country - with more choice too.

www.mauriprosailing.com/

Mauri Pro Sailing is excellent. I have purchased everything from a furler for a 40 footer to simple blocks and clutches.
The online technical help is also very knowledgeable.

I have found most things cheaper even after factoring in postage.

Maybe they are cheaper, but

Lewmar Delta Anchor - 55 lb
Price: $1,793.00

Some prices are not for factory workers.

Scroll down the page Dude, thats for a stainless steel anchor.

The standard Galvinaised anchor is $390 for a 55lbs
An anchor for my 40 footer is $160-$260

That said I don't think many people would mail order an anchor !

sound boat works.

mmmmm

I ordered st2000 tiller pro cost $510, free freight to australia
I paid pay pal they said they wanted cedit card as the were having issues with pay pal . I paid pay pal( some reasonable chance of redeeming monies)
30 plus emails to chris boynton live chat etc.
12 weeks no joy.
then 0n 2905 usps tracking , ye ha it is on it's way . arrived rural south australia 0406
package arrives, I open to find......
simrad tp32 helm.( 1350 retail)
connected straight to my gps and wow!!
Now i can go forward under sail, steam to any point on request , read a book or make a cuppa
I do not know a lot about these helms but the old one was directionally challenged , this is quiet, seems to minimise movement and sails very well .
I learnt my lesson though , some times you get lucky,
I think sound boat works has good pricing but can struggle with supply

try these guys too, depending on what you're after:
discount-marine.co.nz/

anything kiwi made, it made sense to try buying from NZ.

BEP is made in NZ.
I saved around $350 on a Flash BEP management switch panel compared to even the best Aus online price.
Even paying for Air freight (about $50), panel arrived in about 4 days.

It pays to check around though. USA is dearer often on Ronstan, HH and Musto gear, cheaper for Harken.
Look to Uk for Gill and Musto ( www.marineandoutdoorclothing.co.uk).

I'm all for supporting local, and that's my first preference, but sometimes you just can't ignore prices available for the same gear from o/s.
