Hi Guys,

Totally new to this forum (and sport) and am just wondering if the Starboard Pocket rocket 8-5' x30' 130lt would take my weight (97kgs -6"2' tall). I know the recommended weight for this board is 'up to 85 kg' but i have read that once you get 'flying' the board weight capacity is irrelevant. I don't have heaps of cash to throw at new sup board and therefore came across the Starboard PR for sale on local second-hand site and thought maybe it could work for me just starting out.

Much appreciated any thoughts and advise,
Piros

Should be fine , the foil ads stability and acts as a keel . Plenty of volume in the board to float you.

Do you mean new to foiling or new to SUP?
If you do not know how to SUP yet, I wouldn't attempt SUP foiling directly, you need to build regular SUP paddle technique and balance first.

If you can SUP on a board, then you can SUP foil it. Be wary that although the foil adds stability eventually, it can throw you off balance in the learning phases (it catches all the underwater movements). Also, you will probably foil in crappy conditions (that's the beauty of the foil), so you need something you feel like paddling in wind and chop, especially since foil rides can be quite long, making the paddling back quite a distance.

Thanks all for your advise and suggestions !
Yes I am new to foiling but not to sup, so that's good to hear the Starboard PR will float me.
