Only time will tell, but given the number of surfboards in the water on any given day, world wide, I dont think there a big risk from them. The foil set up though, much trickier to control and a larger area for damage. That would lead to the thinking of higher risk.

like any surf craft they have there place and it is more than likely not in the surf where there are other people around, but out in the ocean like the original videos that naish put out

He's not saying don't ride them, BUT "Foils are dangerous, very dangerous, and do not belong in the surf zone with the masses and general public".
Just from observation I'm not even tempted to participate in this type of hilarity but if those that do keep their distance I don't care.
