I'm a Big Fan of the GARMIN GPS Watch. In 2007 I just got back from all the Paddleboard Races in Hawaii and was looking for a Training Watch " hard to find" there was a Triathlete's Watch on the market But me no into Triathlons (to much training involved for that sport) - Anyway I was working North Burleigh Lifeguard Tower, August 2007.

I was getting ready for a 10 kilometre or 6 mile Bare Feet Beach Run in my lunch break I get 60 minutes for lunch & the run takes me 43 minutes. Anyway The Legend Kenny Wallace rocks up to do my Lunch break. After my run I get back to the Lifeguard Tower, I see Kenny Wallace playing with this watch it was the first 305 GARMIN GPS Sports Watch "I was intrigued" Kenny says the AIS "Australian Institute of Sport gave then to us for training purposes. I said I want one and quickly went on line to eBay & purchased my very first GARMIN GPS Sports Watch.

I tell you the day I got that GARMIN Watch you needed a year 12 education just to work it out on the Computer. Me I only have a 6 grade education so it took me a little while to work it out.

Then here I am telling everyone about my GARMIN GPS Sports Watch. So now everyone from Currumbin even my friends on Maui were burning & laughing at me "not to worry" by 2010 everyone that was burning me had a GARMIN Watch on there wrist.

I've had a few GARMIN Watches since 2007 - I've got the Garmin forerunner 955 watch now. Even have the Garmin Edge 1030 for my Mountain Bike and the DriveSmart 86, 8-inch Car GPS

One time I purchased the GARMIN 310 GPS in 2010 on eBay and got "RIPPED OFF" - cut a long story short I phoned PayPal they said we have No Recollection of this payment - I said really because I have my Credit Card Statement in my left hand here's the serial number, I will see you in court - then I contacted eBay. eBay are very hard to contact, I did get eBays cell number through a close solicitor friend of the family. I leave a message on eBays answering service eBay gets back to me with 12 hours saying you can't take us to court we are not responsible. I said yes you are because I had to go through you eBay to buy the watch of the seller - So I ironphil was the first person in History to Sue eBay & PayPal yes they settled out of court BUT changed there laws thanks to me. I did find the seller he was from Israel so I sent him a nice response for ripping me off. I said there is only one thing Hitler didn't do to all you Jews is @#@# & @#@# that you's all, you @#@# thief, I was so angry.

Kenny Wallace is an Olympic gold medalist in canoeing. He achieved this remarkable feat at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, where he won a gold medal in the K1 500m Kayak Sprint. Additionally, he secured a bronze medal in the K1 1000m event, showcasing his versatility and skill in the sport

I see Kenny Wallace & his Gold Medal buddies kayak past my place every morning around 6:00am while I have my coffee.

I spoke to Kenny Wallace just a couple of days before my 2026 Downwind MAUI Tour. Kenny Wallace now travels the world as a Guest Speaker he said I'm kind of over the traveling as it's a busy schedule.

What a week it has been, Starting off with Jeremy Riggs Flat-Water Paddle-Ups at Kahului Harbour. Jeremy Riggs is a WEAPON of a coach. He said iron you're putting too much weight on your front foot. ironphil "thanks coach" I learnt a lot.

I am up to 5 hours already in my Flat-Water Paddle-Up's pursuit practise. I have been going to Currumbin Creek the last 5 months practising. As I will not do Flat-Water Paddle-Up's in the canal in my backyard "Too Many Bull Sharks in that canal" I said to myself OK ironphil (I'm going to Master This Flat-Water Paddle Up's = I'm on a GATOR:- 8'10" x 19" @ 115 litres. using the 1500 Fireball Front Wing , 640mm Ultra Short Fuselage, 50 Tail & the AXIS Ultra PRO 720 Mast.

I do not count the Jeremy Riggs Drills as part of my (time equals Hours) I only count the "time" I'm paddling at 100% trying to get up on foil. it's so hard and very disheartening to give 100% and feel like you are just Pi@#ing Into The Wind as I said it's SO disheartening after like 17 strokes (Heart Rate) is at 95% ME Gassed Already.

It was hard trying to get in the MOOD to do the Flat-Water Paddle Up's = I have a couple of reasons
1. The Waves have be so PUMPING on all the Points from Burleigh Heads to Currumbin Alley to Snapper Rocks into Greenmount; I'd be just Too Tired from being Surfed Out & then try to do Flat-Water Paddle Up's - Currumbin Alley at Low-Tide was Ruler Edge Perfection the best the Alley has been in like 4 years already there was so many PRO's out (Snapper must have been 💩

An Old Photo of PUMPING Currumbin Alley early 2000's

2. Busting my balls just to try & get up on foil is so disheartening
3. I did force myself on many occasion I must concur this Flat-Water Paddle Up's. I did eventually get the 8'10" GATOR out of the water and have got up to 2 paddle strokes of the Paddle BUT then come down from being just too gassed. When I came in after that Flat-Water training session = this guy comes up to me & said what happened "you got your board out of the water" I said I was gassed

They say it takes about 20 hours to master this Flat-Water Paddle Up's.

At Jeremy Riggs Flat-Water Paddle Up's Tuesdays class. I finally got to met this Bloke, Ron.

Sorry the YouTube video from channel Nine has been disconnected - it was a great interview. Don being chased by a 4 metre shark while he was up on foil "Frightening"
-vBLgXYBCTaqxt5

Ron is a hardcore Santa Barbara; Rincon Surfer as well. Ron rides a shortboard. I❤️Rincon I've had that wave 6ft of Pumping Perfection. I hope I get to surf 🏄‍♂️🌊Rincon again some day before I die.

Kihei was GOING OFF today Thursday 9th July, winds gusting 35 to 40+ knots the BUMPS where BIG & Bulk Fun with endless Glides. I ❤️Kihei (But it's Fickle) at 40+ plus knot winds, I personally think that kind of wind💨 is too strong.
30 knot Winds is Bulk More Fun👍

Had a few days on Maliko with an 8 second Ground Swell, I just kept getting my Gluteus Maximus handed to me those Big Swell they'd just leave you behind - even The GOAT Jeremy Riggs said it' was hard work out there today. On my 12ft Prone Paddleboard or 18ft SUP I would have been ❤️life out there. On the foilboard different story BUT the guys who are my age or older on the foil-driver boards where having a blast out there they'd come into Kahului Harbour with Big Smiles on their Faces. "STOKED"

Kihei was a 10 yesterday Friday 10th July winds 35+ knots; it was So EPIC with Big BUMPS with Plenty of POWER the GLIDES were insanely Good. Did my fastest time on some of my longest Glides. I needed a smaller front wing like the AXIS 1070 fireball To control my speed more. I was on the AXIS 1160 fireball great wing BUT I was going so f@#kn fast like a formula one racing car driver I needed to slow down a bit to have more control. Even good mate the GOAT Jeremy Riggs said Kihei was Epic! It was so good! Best Kihei we’ve had in a long time. Everyone who did Kihei that day was STOKED all giving it a 10 out of 10.

A couple of Good Sources said Kihei should be good again tomorrow - fingers crossed already.

We've all sen the IAO Mountains when Downwinding Maliko, I have always paddled to the centre of the V you do not really want to keep the V of the IAO Mountains on your left.
The IAO Valley in Maui features stunning mountain landscapes. The IAO Valley is renowned for its lush greenery and dramatic geological formations, particularly the iconic 1,200-foot tall ʻĪao Needle, which is a prominent landmark in the area. This valley is part of the West Maui Mountains, an extinct volcanic range, and is rich in both natural beauty and cultural history.
Cultural Significance
The Iao Valley holds historical importance, being the site of the Battle of Kepaniwai in 1790, where Kamehameha I defeated the Maui army. The valley is also rich in Hawaiian cultural heritage, with many plants significant to the native population
Activities
Visitors can explore the Iao Valley State Monument, which offers trails, scenic views, and educational opportunities about the local flora and fauna
The IAO Needle Lookout Trail provides a short hike to a viewpoint overlooking the needle and surrounding cliffs.

I did a Maliko Run the other day, when I finished at Kahului Harbour I noticed this young grommet sketching the IAO Mountains - His father looks at me & says he's an artist.
