Looking for some advice on the new MA front wings and tail wings...specifically paired with the 85 V2 mast ( non A+ and not the performance masts) . My understanding is that both the new front and tails wings were made to use with the new masts...the MA wings paired with the new tail wings...but can they be used with the V2 masts ?

My current set up is the CF V2 1200( my daily) / 1600 front wing paired with the 232 tail with the 85mast and 60 fuse for sup foiling .
Was looking at first adding a new tail wing to use with my existing set up for sup foiling in the surf..and then later adding an MA front wing ( 1000 1225 1475)

If you ride a similar set up on the 85 V2 mast but are using one of the MA front or tail wings would appreciate any feedback and advice.

I am sup foiling the 935 mast with the 1225 and 205 tail on the older 60 fuse with the 0 shim in there. I did switch back to the HS 1850 on a smaller day with a -1 (-2 with red combo) setting in there thinking I needed more lift on the gutless day. I think the 232 was what I was using as the 205 was not out then. It seemed like the 1850 angle with different angle on the 935 gave it too much lift. I was just lifting and stalling. I had to switch to the +1 shim. Once I put in the +1 it became fun again. I think I am about your weight too 85-88kgs.

Hi everyone, long time lurker. thought I could add something here. I'm running 795, 60fuse, and MA 1225, 205 surf and 235 flow.. All SUP surf and just got a DW. I'm 93kg... can't help with the mast question, I just purchased this year and went straight with HP mast.. my advice is the MA's feel a lot better with the 205, no shim, than the 235. and if you already have an uncut 232. try a 205, so good !! Also, the 1000 is "small" so better suited to longer period head high plus. Think of the 1000 to 90ish kg Supper to how you see the prone shredders on the 800. takeaway, 205 is unreal and I'd recommend highly. and 1225 is a go to daily driver and highly recommend and for further groveling and DW I'd imagine the 1475 will work good for SUP too. Hope that helps.

Re old mast: I was running the MA1225 on the old 72 mast (non-A+) on a Kalama SUP. I did a reverse mast shim as discussed above and definitely recommend doing so after going back and forth with/without shim.
I wanted for front foot pressure after adding the MA1225 to the mix even while maxed on my Kalama tracks while using the Vtail with the 1225, to the point I drilled out additional holes in the mast further back. That extra inch solved my issue. I can't remember if I rode it with the 232 or not at this point
Later I picked up the 205 tail, was able to pull the mast back to the normal holes with it installed. Didn't feel the need for the V as the 205 was lively enough and gave the pressure I desired.
Finally with a lucky circumstance I added the 795 mast. Definitely an improvement on the old mast. Still using an 85 Tuttle mast with the gear on a different board BTW.
Bottom line all the original generation stuff works and with consideration is fully interchangeable (depending on board etc). But the newest generation is another level, I definitely felt like each piece incrementally made me better, and all told it definitely made me level up a notch from where I was a month prior riding the HS (and eating $#!+ when I breached) and struggling with the HA's pitch sensitivity.

With the new kit I could actually ride the HA1325 and had an epic moonlight session which was not possible on the old gear; and handled some significantly bigger drops on the MA1225 than I ever could feel comfortable on the HS line and pull off!

if you can afford to upgrade all do so. If not chip away at what you can, based on what you feel is hindering you. Ie if I was heavy riding the wide/high area foils I'd probably look to a mast first. If I was limited by turning/foot pressure perhaps the tail or fuse, etc.
Riding the CF's a new smaller tail can breathe new life into them. I was amazed the difference between the 232 and V tail (chopped) and the 195. That said they'll only make so much of a difference.
Personally I'd upgrade the front wing first as they are that much better, the mast/tail/etc later.

And youd be only totally wrong.. The new masts difference is not restricted to just a rake angle.

anyhow . yeh running a mast shim will sort the rake angle. Know crew using the MAs on the A plus mast - its as good as the mast will allow. Consider the 235 as your tail for the Ma 1225 wing size and bigger.

so can you tell me in what other way the mast has changed apart from flex and efficiency that would effect how the new MA wings work?

I'm on the 5'11 FG board...and was hoping to add one of the new tails with my CF1200 v2 front wing...then most probably the 1225...and then a new mast.

Hi I ride the old mast 72 A+ ,60 fuse and the new 205 surf tail wing . It works fine the new tail wing is full on making foiling easy. The best result I get is a plus 1 shim on the tail and the set up feels awesome.

Thanks what tail were you riding before the 205 and how did it compare? Is the 205 more for advanced riders?
