Any early mail on this.. Run time? weight? Prop vs Foil Drive mini Pod? Controller technology? Hopefully someone has the scoop before AWSI and availbaility in AUS. 👀🤔

Fantastic! The power info kinda goes over my head. Hopefully they take an approach of going interstate in Aus with demos initally with the intergrated boards so users can trial the product and choose battery sizes. Excited to hear the pricing!!

That square box has two buttons you squeeze in. Remove box from cavity, unplug. Plug in new battery box. Squeeze buttons to press into box. Done.

Yes, I see that, but the battery includes all the electronics of the unit, only the cable and motor are separate. So to compare the offering from Foildrive, the 2P battery unit gives around 30-40 minutes of runtime. This puts it in the FD Sport HP battery range.
The HP Sport battery is around AUD$1200. Add to that a cable, prop, motor and V2 controller and the complete kit price should be under AUD$3000.

we had access to 5 sunova boards with the riift box fitted, up 50l - all smicko

various riift batteries 2 3 4p, just different sizes, have box inserts too, if using smaller battery, but 4p won't fit smaller boards

armie ma2 890 surf tail170

the set up quick, still needs some polish imho, cable to the motor too long and different lengths should be offered. the cable sits on the side of the mast - not sure if that effects the dynamics much

monopod good but one strap is left proud and flappy- minor issue

motor is longer and narrower than fd, plenty of oomph and spins up very well. 3 props hub needs a tidy as screw ends protrude a bit - minor issue

controller a fd 2 clone. lost connectivity to the battery nearly every time I stopped or fell off

otherwise quiet, smooth and very usable, heaps of grunt no issue getting up on foil on the 890, im 85kg 45l board

I was impressed overall. invested in fd so need something substantial to change me over thou

locked into the one board too, but the board could be used to prone, tow boogie

pricing all important but will be viable competitor to fd, which is a good thing imho, keep them innovating

Ouch, that’s a lot more than I thought they would be. With no spare battery option and no ability to replace an aging battery I’ll stick with a replaceable battery option.

An in depth review. Points to note is the spooling (no pre spooling) 50cm cable standard, they'll get you on the custom length later $$, tilt sensor . 2p & 3P same size "box" 4 P bigger "box". Looks like I'm going to have to fly somewhere to test battery sizes and board feels and brands before taking the costly plunge on board. Hold your breath for those prices to come through..cirka $2500 - 3K havent seen these yet?

10K for any battery foil assist is a piss take, you can buy a carbon fibre emountain bike for the same price. These things should be $5-6k max, what are you getting a battery, motor and remote 🙄

Kind of agree but there is a vast amount of development cost, ongoing support and wages that need to be factored into the price. And it’s a tiny market compared to MTB so each kit needs to absorb these costs.
Efoil will never be a cheap foiling option to get into.

Agree there aren't the same economies of scale to get them cheaper and honestly don't want too many e assist foils in the line up.
I've become more interested in Rift after watching some of the AWSI videos.
Crazy to see how many brands had rift boxes in at the show!

Their box set up is a great idea, apart from tightening your mast there are no tools required for battery.
I'm still on FD Assist plus and see the Gen 2 guys spending too much time getting bolts lined up.

Yes, FD can go on any board, but reality is most will get a trench on pocket trench board.
With the rift box you can fit a blank in and use high wind winging or prone.

Also buy a rift box and route into a board, not brand new but a good secondhand shape or year old on clearance sale!

No wind or swell today, off Emtb 😎

I've made some initial enquiries with board manafacturers who were acknowledged at AWSI to be a Riift partner, however yet to hear anything back. Will be interested how they plan to go to market with a system and then waiting months to have a board delivered. I noticed Appletree are making it public if you order from them you get priority on a Riift system.

Carbonco here in Brisbane has gotten onboard with RIIFT and has tracks coming. No idea of the lead time for tracks but shouldn’t take too long to build a board around them.

Oh really? I know the 3 & 4 P use the bigger "box/ johnston" and the 2 P is a smaller stand alone.

Great video. It looks like a great system and very agile. Pity you need around 18k for 2x 3P batteries and board. The system is priced well and thought the extra battery would cost a fortune unfortunately. Hopefully they do well.
