Surprised that its taken this long for one of the big 3 to launch into it. I wonder how long it will be before we see a Hurley with the Nike Swooooooosh on it gracing the boardstores.
I'm surprised it's taken so long for people to notice. They have had them for a couple of years. The Bamboo laminate is new though.
Rip Curl actually has a surfboard program and afterall started as a surfboard company. They make a strong stand to work with shapers that work with their team ie DHD and Mick and Steph, Al Merrick and Taylor Knox. It is natural that they would include SUP boards to the range. I believe Claw actually rides SUP a lot of the time. Surfboards are not decorations in their stores, they sell quite a few.
Nothing against Bong and Quik but as far as actual commitment to surfing and products to support it Rip Curl has the pedigree. Billabong has them now that they've bought them (Excel, Dakine etc) but Rip Curl has had it all along. My disclaimer is that my missus works for them but all the more lucky for me that I get to wear the best wetsuits in the world cheap.
