Hi all! There's a total lack of anyone local who sup surfs and I'm in desperate need of some help!

I've been surfing (2-3ft waves) on a borrowed Starboard Atlas. Got the bug. I've seen the new 2017 range and I'm traumatised about what board. I'm 100kg in my wettie and I'm looking at the Whopper or Wide point. But what size? We don't have massive waves here but it's very choppy to get out.

Don't need anything that can do much distance - I've got an NSP Tour for that but a couple of our breaks are a couple of k from where I can launch.

Can some sup surfers help please?!

G'day Mike,

All the boards you mentioned sound suitable. If you can try them first then you really should. Windy and choppy conditions are going to require stability for sure. And if you're gonna be paddling a couple of kilometres then it would help to have a bit of length. Keeping in mind that you have to paddle back after a session with a bit of fatigue. If you're only looking at Starboards then the Whopper or 10'5" Widepoint sound to me like good options for you.

Thank Zeusman! My problem is I live in Guernsey - a little offshore island - lots of sea to play in but no local shops. I'd actually have to get a plane to the nearest one!

I'll be taking a bit of a gamble so I may well play it super safe and got for a longer Whopper. The starlight looks nice....

Not entirely convinced by going for a full on all rounder like the drive and its ilk. I've got a touring board for when I need it.

That Hokua looks smart. Probably deals about for last year's

Me thinks Sunova Speeed 9'2 would be ideal for everything you say, you can paddle them distance, will float you fine, I'm a little over 100 kgs dry and I have an 8'10 but i wouldn't want to paddle it 2 kms

PS - I know nothing about staboards, never like the whopper when i was downsizing from the Avanti many moons ago

I got over excited.

Widepoint 10' has been ordered. I think it is a lot to do with the fact it looks nice. Shallow me!

I'll post some pics when it turns up next week.
