Getting back into watersports, I have a 9'11 all wave which is a massive board for me as I'm 70kgs however Im looking at getting a used 8'5 to progress with and also let my daughter ( she's 6 years old and 25kgs ) learn on. Having a mast foot insert I figured she could also learn to windsurf on it, anything negative about this? I figured its going to last a lot longer then a bcf beginners board that still costs between $200-400.

appreciate your input

You will need a centerboard for her to learn. If you know how to windsurf, you do not need a centerboard, but it is mandatory for teaching kids and do not disgust them.

No need to install a central fin box, I guess a simple wood board with a fin/dagger on it taped to the hull could suffice (or strapped around the board)

Use 5 fins and stress NOT sheeting in fully but to luff the sail at all times...until she can stay upwind.
