Hi all,

I am looking to get my 1st stand up paddle board and have been looking around for a while. Anaconda have 2 Guy Leech boards at 10' 6 and 11'6 on sale for $600. This looked remarkably cheap but was curious to what experts think of these boards. It is a fiberglass epoxy board. Says it was about $1,000 and has been reduced.

The setups I have been looking at are around $1,100 to $1,200 so thought that it might be good value.

Also any tips on the paddle I should look at?

I really want the board to work on my core fitness primarly and have a little bit of fun eventually in the surf once I learn how to do it.

good cheap way to get into suping, they also do a pretty good carbon paddle for $100, in 6 months time you will be looking to upgrade to one of the better board makers, but i don't think anyone stops with the one board, you always need a second one for the wife or kids.

If you are serious about getting a stand up paddle board then make your first stop a stand up paddle board shop. Do your homework - demo some boards - talk to stand up paddle board retailers - talk to stand up paddle boarders that you see at the beach and on the rivers in your area. If after doing all the homework you still want to buy a stand up paddle board from a sports/camping store then go for it. You tend to get what you pay for nowdays.

Those Leech Boards are now down to $420 at Anaconda at Ashmore. Amazing value I think they are great , for white water & playing in the canal/exploring , forget it for the surf.

The boards look incredibly stable so yes good for a beginner but you will out grow it very fast.

These boards are exactly the same as the Imagine boards (very good company) so they are not pool toys , Leechy has just had his name stuck on.

i watched a promo vid and for a river tourer with nifty storage etc, the way they seemed to paddle ok, not bad. certainly good for camping and the kids to belt away on etc
