HI ALL .

LOOKING at buying a 8,6 smik hipster ,
looking for a shorter board ,like this one
just wonder if it a good one ,and how is the width at 31,5 on a short board ,does it feel too wide in steep waves ?
i am 100 kgs and 5,11 .been suping for 2 years .been using a 9,1 x32 .hokua .feels big now .

thank you .in advance .

Gday Waveinn
I have said beast in full carbon. Paddles nicely very forgiving with good foam distribution forward for stability and getting in and not much in the tail. Turns with ease and inspires confidence with stability and performance.
I am lighter than you at 80kgs and prefer oversize for my conditions and ability.
As to your question is it too wide in steeper faces - i find it interesting as to all the focus on that when i use the board in steeper faces, there would be no more than a third of the planing surface in the wave. So personally i don't find it too wide at all.

I have used it in knee to head and half so far - versatile board.

Given you are in the West - give Cam at SUSS a call and he has 8'6 in demo - as i did.

I have no affiliation am a full paying punter.

Cheers

Thanks Eski ,
i have been to the shop ,picked it up but not demoed ,as I 'm a little further south to try it in real waves ,but thanks .
I'm guessing Scotty has tested it in west oz waves and shouldn't really doubt it's a good one ,I just have it in my head ,narrow boards are better in pitchy waves .the width shouldn't really worry me coming off a 32 wide board ,just need less foam and shorter than what I have would be better too...

I found it too wide. Not a fan of width. 105kg 6 2 I got a 30 inch wide spitfire.
