Wow, I didn't realise Terje was riding for Starboard.

For those that don't know Terje Haakonsen was for a long time one of the best snowboarders in the world, and is considered a legend in the sport, this was back when Shaun White was still coming up through the ranks.

wow, that is one slick brochure ... and very cool. seems the company has really committed itself to the success of SUP surfing. i wonder how the faltering world economies will affect things. i hope not at all. but my understanding is it's upping the prices by quite a bit, so we'll see.

anyway, don't want to rain on their parade. i think *board makes a terrific product and i'll be buying one of those 10.5 drives myself. what a sweet looking sup!

It's fantastic that they have such a comprehensive range. They seem to have thought of everything you could need for SUP.

Disappointing that they have not included deck inserts for carrying with the paddle or a shoulder strap.

Hopefully the local dealers will stock more than just the basic models.

HI Champ,

One of our local guys has had our demo on the water for the last 2 mornings and is loving it.

He normally rides and loves the 9'8" which he finds looser but the blend between surf performance and paddling ability of the 10'5" seems to make it pretty hard to get it back in the store. He's gone away from using the side fins as he finds the nice narrow tail seems to work well as a single.

I'll try to get out for a spin on it soon as I can.

Sam.

Yer the range is massive for 09, i have seen the new 10.5's, they looks the goods, nice wide nose and drawn out pin tail, the rails toward the tail are a fare bit thinner than the 11'2.
The black camo looks sweet also the Classic yellow with the finger print grip feels realy light and i am told the grip works realy well, i'll give some more feedback when i get to have a paddle, just waiting for a glassy day to get it out there..

I wonder if the Tufskin paddles will catch on. It looks like the base models have Tufskin but a resilient sheath on a carbon paddle might be a good thing to protect board, paddle and rider.

Can you offer some more details about the finger print grip, like, is it gritty or soft. if you fall to your knees on it or paddle on your knees a lot, are you going to skin 'em up?

please do. and pls let us know whether you think it's better than tuffskin. for one thing, i hear it's mmmuch lighter. and if that's the case, and if it's not hard on the knees and bare skin, sounds like it could be a winner.

been riding the 10'5 for 3 days now,sam may never this board back. The board comes with small fcs side fins (maybe a first for starboard)and had may first surf with them in, board was sluggish hard to paddle and just wanted to flick me off all the time and slow on a wave, came in after a few not real happy i through this board was going to be the allrounder i've been looking for. Next day took the side fins out and went out dy point in choppy surf, this time as soon as i stood up everything had changed i was now on a stable table paddled straight glided through the water no longer sluggish, now when riding waves easy to turn fast if you have ever riden a mal and want to now sup this board is great turns off the tail like a mal unreal you can just lean it over on the rail off the bottom and you get heaps of drive.Today went out manly smooth 2-3 ft unreal. If you live in the sydney area go and see sam at wind surf n snow at longy or give them a ring 99710999 and you should be able to get another one to demo as he's not getting this one back and if you don't like it there are heaps of other sup's in the shop to try.He has demo days on staurday mornings down the end of anzac ave at fishmans and thursdays nights from 5.30 to 7.30 on narrabeen lake
