Well what a day!!! The hardest 45km we've all done. The aussies did really well. Jacko and jake in the lead pack the whole until jake dropped off.
Jacko 3rd
Jake 6th

Myself and Simone also doing really well. I was leading the whole until the last 3km!! i ended up coming in 2nd, And simone coming in 3rd

The last 3km arcoss the LAKE was insane, 30knots side on with decent chop. 50% of today was into the 30knots head wind for 45km! Crazy

Tomorrow looking much of the same until half way point and then finally wind at our back for the next few days! YAH

Bart came in 1st out of the guys
Anne Marie 1st in the ladies

Everyone is pretty sore tonight, so it will be interesting tomorrow.

Will keep the updates coming. Plenlty of pics floating around but i can't upload anything. Slow internet.

They were talking 5h30 for the boys and 6h30 for the girls...
It was funny to watch the GPS tracking but it dragged a bit too long

Day 2
Super hard again today!!!! first 30 km straight in to a 25 knot head wind, this would have to be the hardest SUP race in the world right now. Today was 42kn and and took the guys about 6 hours and girls 7hrs!!!!

Ang got 1st and some time back on anne marie i came in 4th but it was pretty close the whole way with the top 4 guys. Jake pull out today at the half way mark with being completely blue and need to get warm!!

weather is looking a little better tomorrow so hopefully we can pull some time back from the guys in front!!

I dont think i have ever been so sore from paddling ever and still 3 days to go this should be fun!!!

Sim got 3rd again to day

Bart and Ryan are both on the 14ft ACE i think, it is and its 23inch wide and a very fast board and also very hard to wash ride off as well. The pace is fast for how hard and long the races are!!

Will post more when we can!!!

Thanks for the updates Jacko and Angie. That 14' Ace that Bart is on - is it a sunken deck or flat top?

Thanks Chris. One thing about that Ace - if it's 23" wide as Jacko suggested, Bart and Ryan are doing tremendously well to keep paddling upright for nearly 6 hours.

I'd call that more of a boat tail than a pintail..

Is it just me or does anyone else think the Starboards look like they should have seats in them and the rider sitting down using a double ended paddle?

Great pics, looks cold!

Go Aussies!

Given the fact that the Starboards are running first and second in mens and first in womens, and especially as they are keeping Aussies out of the lead, I'd say they need anchors.

Regardless of where they are running they do look more like a canoe than a board, I was actually thinking one of them reminded me of a clog

They certainly are a very unique looking craft. I recall a post a few months ago showing video footage of one of the Starboard Ace's. At 391 litres it was a beast. I think I recall Cher dancing on one of its turrets in the 80's.

Angie was killing it until the sidewind disturbed her on the lake on day1... and considering nothing troubled her on day 2, you might have to rephrase your statement very shortly

Which in turn make me things that if this race lifts off in the years to come, we could end up with manufacturers' teams and see a bit of Tour de France tactical bit to it... you know drafting, launching your leader for the final sprint etc etc...

OMG Simone not only won the stage today but she smashed myself and ann marie by 19min!!! Crazy chicky. She felt awesome today. You know that wall? Well i hit that dam thing today hard! Had nothing.
The pace of the guys is crazy, all top 4 guys within seconds today! Sprinting the whole day.
Currently as it stands, I have to catch ann marie by 4min approx and Simone has to catch ann marie by 8 min approx, so the next 2 days is going to be HARD work.
Jacko is overall sitting in 3rd, holding off 4th by 50sec!!
The pace of these guys is FAST!
