A quick question, especially for DJ or anyone who has a blast on the big beasts.
Just got a 14' Naish Glide and was wondering how the upright fin that comes with it goes with regard to weed. I remember the huge impact a small blade of sea grass has on a sailboards' performance. Maybe the stall type action in the wave trough of a downwinder shakes it off? Any feedback?

I know in California and parts of South Africa kelp and sea weed are everywhere and guys use fins similar to these. Not sure if exact but look similar.

There is also talk that these type of fins help with tracking and yawn as opposed to the upright fins.

Congrats on getting the Naish 14' beast..

I'm using the standard Naish 10 1/2" swept back fin that comes on the 11'4/11'6 and 12' Glide in my 14' Glide right now.

I thinks it's a bit more user friendly.. There's no doubt that the stock dagger style fin should perform better but if you are not so much interested in performance I think the dolphin shape fin is a better choice because you can drag it across the sand in shallow water and even gently bounce it off rocks without damaging it much and there much less chance of cutting yourself on it if you were to accidently kick it while treading water next to your board. (I've done this before windsurfing and got a real nasty cut).

It's also my experiance with these fins on windsurfers that they don't like to go down wind fast and if you put pressure against it it makes the board want to rail up and head across the wind.. I'm not sure if my windsurfing experiances has anything to do with SUP but that's my reasons for changing it.. They also don't catch seaweed and rubbish like the more upright fins do.. (but that's not a problem for me where I paddle).

I'll change back one day and see just what the difference is.
