Took one out yesterday and had a ball on it. Went with a mate who was an SUP virgin and both had no problems riding it. I'm 95kg and been SUP a year on more and he is about 85kg and is a good surfer but first time SUPing. The seabreeze was lightly in and it was a little choppy but had a ball. Other board we were using was an 11' Watercooled which is only 3.5" thick and I would say they had a similar bouyancy. The watercooled was a smoother paddler and a little more mal-ish on the waves whereas the 7S turned on a dime and felt more like a fish on the wave(not surprising given it's a fish)
Longboards Scarborough will be demo-ing and hiring these boards so give them a burl. Not much help to you Rodkite , I am sure you could find one to paddle in NSW.
Drop the guys at Global Surf Industries a line and they will point you in the right direction.

I actually own one and can't fault it. I am 6'1 75kg and have been supping for about 2 months. I started on a 10'10 Walden and the transition to the uber has been a piece of cake. The first thing you notice is how easily they paddle into waves and how easy they are to surf - especially coming off a big tanker. I've also had mates out on it who have never supped before and it takes them no time at all to get their balance and start getting into waves.
Not sure what part of NSW you are in but if you are anywhere on the north coast you are welcome to come out for a paddle and try mine. I am on the goldy but will be down coffs way in a few weeks. If you wanna know anything more don't hesitate to make contact.
