The cliff faces west, so you really know about it when you do the climb late afternoon on a 40 degree day after 3 hours in solid waves! Also not much of a place for sitting on the 'beach' spectating any time from about Jan - April. The March flies get blown down to the bottom of the cliffs with the offshores. They will eat you alive if you aren't in the water.
DavidJohn said.. Great vid Chris.. I've walked down that track and almost killed myself..
I can't imagine doing it while carrying a board and paddle.. and coming back up must be hell..
At least it would keep the crowds down..
How long did that take you Chris,, You showed your face. The shank locals will be after you now. Ha ha good job mate.
if you can find it, you then have to try not to slip as you descend down the cliff, then you have to make it out without getting smashed or worse breaking your legrope and losing your board for good. If you survive the surf and can make the keyhole in, you then have to get the hell out of there before you get eaten alive by the march flies as Rossco said. Then the worst part of it all is the climb back out. So much fun! Waves to myself!
Nice vid Chris, not sure about surfing that place alone though....reckon 2+ in the water are better odds... mind you I do like the name of one of the breaks down that way called " head injuries" mmm not for the faint hearted I guess.....
