Here's a little video of Jonathan's Starboard Ace 14' x 25" from a week or so ago. The wind was only a touch over 20 knots and the waves were fairly modest, but this little board just flew along.

Should be good to go now. Also, here's another Downwinder from a few weeks ago. Wind was well over 30 knots that day. That's the 2010 Starboard Surf Race 14' in shot.

I'd reckon that we've had a ripping Dw'er at least once a week for the past month, more for those lucky individuals like JC, DJ and PT!

Nice work Melbournians!

Great vids guys. Inspired me to go on a dw'er this arvo.
How good are the Aces DW?!?!
From the Sydney races so far this season they are the quickest boards in all conditions. Nothing else really gets close to them except maybe the Jav in dead flat conditions.
I took my 9 yr old on a DW on the Ace 27 on Sat arvo (Newport to Narra). Amazing board. He kneeled (and paddled) under me and I hardly noticed him due to the volume and stability. We got heaps of long glides. He was pretty stoked at the end. Now he wants a 12'6Ace of his own...

Great Vid,

DJ have you had a run in DW conditions on that board?

Interested to hear from someone with some more height 186cm and weight circa 85 - 95kg on how it performs?

I think the 27" version would be a great board for you Phil, Kissa could give you better feedback than me though. The Ace boards have turned out to be a real one board quiver, good at both flat water and down-winding.

Hey Phil. Agree with JC. The Ace could be a bit of a one board quiver as it is fun in all conditions. We have taken them (the 25 & 27) in seriously solid ocean DW conditions and have been blown away by the performance.
Phil, the 27 wide Ace is a beast of a board. Huge, heavy and stable. But the thing flys downwind - take one for a demo...I am 90kgs and my boy is 30kgs and had a ball on it in the runs.

One board quiver for race, downwind and touring maybe. But it's no surfing SUP. At least I wouldn't be taking it out at 13th Beach.

Sorry for the endless, same as, same as boring videos!! We have to do something about getting out on the boat and filming like Bill Boyum does to make it all more interesting - trouble is when its windy who wants to be on the boat

This one is in about 20 to 25 knots, not much swell but good fun.
