Due to other circumstances Iam lucky enough to be able to choose either a 9'8 element or 10.5 drive.

Iam pretty much made me mind on the 9,8 but unsure of the glide ability. If you own one or been on one let us know. Prob not goin to be able to demo boards myself.

The new 9'8" element rides different to the old 9'8" Starboard. The pin tail takes away some stability.

My 2 cents worth.

I weigh 85kg to 89 kg.
The Drive does everything I require of a surfboard. Re-entries, floaters, nose rides, cutbacks etc.
More importantly it provides a stable platform for something you will spend about half your time doing.
Paddling back out through white water and standing out the back waiting for the next set.
I was out today with 2 guys on 9'3" PSH and they were wobbling all over. They were Ok when they caught a wave but wallowed in the lulls.
The Drive however is definitely a longboard style board. I love it for that reason.
If you are after a shortboard feel maybe the shorter board is for you.
