Hi - want a paddle for the wife and kids so they can plod around this summer and don't want them using my carbon paddle - plus its way too long - what and how much would you expect to pay for one and how much max extension should you go for (they are from around ( average height 7yo, 14yo - wife has just been officially pronounced shorter than the 14yo (much to her disgust).

Any suggestions - don't want to spend a fortune but don't want a Big W special either.

Cheers Russ

Hi Russh,

Check out the Kialoa adjustable. I am pretty sure DJ did a review on them here on the breeze so check the gear review section.

We have them and they are great. The come in two different sizes and I suspect the smaller one will be ideal for you. I was really impresssed with how well they paddle.

Good luck

I am with Robbo on that one, the one here are $10 drill the rivet out cut to length and then hay presto kids paddle.

The bic adjustable should be available for about $150. Heavy but workable.

The Kialoa is great but at $450 ish its expensive

Whilst not cheap the C4 "STENDY" is the way to go. I bought one in Southern California earlier this year. It is sensational. In a way the Ball hand grip is better than the standard T. The real beauty of the paddle is the ease of use and the way it can be adjusted. Try using it at various lengths yourself. It is liberating eg surf with it set to a much lesser length than usual. I highly recommend it. I can compare it to the GSI composite and the Kialoa Methane both of which I have used extensively.

I like the Kialoa Hinalea adjustable paddle and sure they're expencive (I thought they were about $350) but they are very good and paddle like an expensive paddle.

Naish have a new adjustable paddle.. Does anyone know how much they are?

Found a 150cm Paddle for the part timers at Clark rubber for $39 Two piece and perfect for the kids to hava a go - T type handle at the top and it could be fitted onto the adjustable end of a broken boom.

Thanks for the tips - now I've got the wife and 7 yo old hooked - time for another board I think!!!
