Yea the standard in the comp was really high and even then Ivan still was on a level of his own.
The boards in the 1st three shots are the new Coreban 10'0. These are the first few that the Coreban guys brought out to South Africa to test in our conditions. I have ordered one for myself already. Not sure when they will be available, but will let you know.
Most of the guys chose to ride "short" boards in the opening heats, but in the final the boards where between 9'3 and 10'0.
As this was a regional event only the guys in Cape Town competed. As the sport is growing at a phenomenal rate it won't be long before we have our own national titles that will attract the Durban based riders as well. Maybe we could have it a J-bay .... imagine 6-8ft J-bay and only SUP's

Mad Mike: Gigs has shaped his own SUP board and has been SUPing for a few years now since he first saw Laird in Maui. I am doing an interview with him next week so I'll put up a post as soon as it is done.
It would be great to see Ivan over in Oz, he really is a nice guy and the sport can only do well having guys like him around. Maybe we should be putting together a group of Saffer's to come over on a trip to Oz or get some of you guys over?
