Anyone know the max board length that Qantas and the like will take? I know sh!tstar are pretty bad and will only take up to 6'6 depending on the aircraft....cheers

This is a topic I would also like some people's experience on.

I know that British Airways flat out refuse to take surfboards and some American airlines have resitrictions of 7 foot.

In the lastest Stand Up Journal mag there is an article about a couple going on holiday to Morocco and the airline taking her board (9'8" i think).

Cheers

Qantas = 277cm (9'1 I think)
Virgin = 300cm (9'8 from my calc)

Virgin is the winner!!!

International > Qantas

Last year I brought back 2 x 12ft board bags @ 84kg and all I had to pay was $50US to the porter to help drag them to the counter

Domestic > Virgin

Jetstar don't take anything over 1.8m as they stack luggage in containers. Virgin don't use containers. Jetstar wouldn't even allow my paddles last time went north!

I work for Qantas and have taken my 9ft 6 Mal to Hawaii.
I've seen and loaded surf ski's before and I'm not sure if they where charged excess .

I have flown with the 3 internally and have had a moment with Jstar when they would only take my 7" board and not my 9 fter
Qantas and Virgin both accepted 9 ' 6" no charge and no damage
