Generally if the wind is from the south (not too much W) then Bower Road to North Haven is the go. Do the reverse if the wind is from the N or NW.

SW then the O'Sullies to Hallett Cove can be good 9apparently I haven't done it yet) but at 12 km with not many exit points it is one to do with a few crew

If your closer to the southern part of the coast then there are a few runs between Pt Noarlunga and Moana but I don't venture too far south so best leave advice from one of them.

Hi guys, 2 pieces of advice firstly anything South of Seacliff generally picks up the same swell as the mid coast and can make runs really challenging especially if we have had strong S-SW winds for a couple of days. Secondly I would be looking at getting a longer board. I don't think that you would be able to pick up runners on a surfing style board especially sub 11'. There is a big difference to be paddling with some wind behind you and being out in the ocean trying to ride the swells. I am always happy to organise a paddle with new paddlers and have already spoken to Moyzie and will be looking at a nice northerly wind for a first downwinder. You are more than welcome to join us for a run soon and you can either bring your 10'6 or I can organise a race board for you. You will be surprised in the difference. Send me a msg or hit me up on the SA SUP Crew facebook. In the mean time try to get on the water as much as possible in all conditions as that's the best preparation you can do.

Additionally, West Lakes in a strong southerly or northerly gives an awesome beginners run between Bower Rd(Canoe Club) and Trimmer Pde, around 5 kms.
Just need someone to p/u and drop off. This is a relaxed run with the ability to catch runners on any board and a great starting point. Can also be paddled alone if you have a pushbike!

Supcrew will be at Brighton and Seacliff Yacht Club each Wednesday evening during daylight savings with the inflatables if you wish to try something different.
