Yeah, stacks of takers on that one

I'll put it another way: If there was a Sydney based SUP club would anyone be interested in joining?

There must be a fair few crew on the northern beaches alone.

YEP count me in ,I'm on the south side (Cronulla ) it's not as popular over here as the Northside, and it makes sense to have the SUP Club based there.Which would include the Newcastle SUP ,i'm not sure if they have there own club ?
It would begreat to have guys like Casso ,AA, Sam who have the knowledge to run a club, but they can't do it allown as there running there bussiness as well .So I'm sure Goatman and myself and others can all pitch in ,in some way to get things started.

Goatman where are you based?

Cheers

Boylos

Would love to be part of it in some way.

Speaking to a customer on Friday who is the pres of the Long Reef Longboarders club. Whilst he's busy with that club he had some great ideas about how to do it simply and easily.

Sam.

Sounds like it has legs!
You definitely have our support along with Sam for a SYNDEY club!
We just need a couple of motivated crew to run it. I reckon with a bit of solid backing Goatman & Casso would be perfect with Boylos representing the south side!

There must be a few ailing surf-based clubs out there that could do with an injection of members by way of a Paddle Surfing arm to their club? They would already have everything in place including premises. Just a thought!

aa, that may depend on how officious you want it to be,we will keep our club fairly casual and have an agm once each june, you know proper meeting sort of,this first year we dont want to scare new people off with the b.s. that goes with small clubs, all the dick swinging as the alpha males get into it.always happens in all clubs imo,so we are letting the committee sort it out then ask for input from the members to get a feel of what they want,if you stand alone just adopt the standard constitution that dept of fair trading offer,it simplifies things to start off.if you need to go with your own rules(constitution)do it later in a year or so.we are meeting once a month for flat water and education,as the sup gets better we will do comps but for now there are not enough surfers to hold club surf comps..this is not just my view for our club but jodie and woogie, who have lots of club experience as well.keep it low key and it should work

So AA ,I'm all for it to run the south side .... so we would be under one name eg SUP SYDNEY With somone running the north side ,and me looking after the south side and we come togeather for events ,meetings etc ..... is this your way of thinking?

Anyone else on the south side who wants to get involve ,please step up as there's not many of us

Totally agree 1stpoint, I have been involved in way too many clubs that end up deterring the very people they set out to attract. Alpha males and politics appear to be the biggest culprits. It is essential to keep it simple and fun for all, above all else.

All we need the right people to start it, form a committee and we will help back it and support it in whatever way we can. With Sam from WS&S behind it as well it will be a well resourced club I believe.

you go for it aa.with that attitude it will work,if the tree pissing starts here it could ruin everything jodie and me have strived to build.if you can find a secretary as good as jodie marsh you will have a winning club

I agree, keep it simple, if only to get our foot in the door of Surfing NSW to start with. I hate the politics usually associated with committees.

the best part of surfing australia is you just pay them affilliation for the insurance, they get the best deal because of their membership numbers, you dont have to sit on their committee or answer to them plus they are the only way to get a sanctioned aussie title,

John, you could advertise it by way of facebook... if you've got an account, creating a group is dead easy, and then you can reach a wide crowd, i noticed there's a fair few SUPers in there already too....

Hey Boylos,

Jason & I would join if there were a few meets on the south side. Nthn beaches is just a bit too far from Jervis Bay but Cronulla is only 2hrs. Could help with south side stuff if you need it. I am in Sydney every Tuesday for work!

I'd be more then happy to join and help out getting a club up and running, all you need to do is get a date say Sunday afternoon 28th June you need time for the word to get around, pick a time to meet 1 o'clock and a netural place like Manly dam or Narrabeen lake where you could have a BBQ & maybe a cold one nothing like standing around a bbq talking it up and meeting new poeple. Someone could take a few notes about what everybody would like from the club make a list of attendes with their contacts ie:name address e-mail address etc, agree on a future time and place for a more formal meeting to start the club form a committe give yourselfs a name and of course someone will have to come up with a design for a tee shirt and the rest will be history. JUST AN IDEA
