Do you like art in your paddle...? and why? I painted few paddles for C4 that they used for awards, etc...but I feel that I am the only one who has art in the paddle (for surf or races)
If you like, what kind of pictures would you have on it?
Thanks

Not really. Paddles and boards are for surfing (or other SUP related activities).

In terms of "form follows function" the most beautiful object is the one best suited to it's function. Apart from minor graphic details to enhance the lines, artwork tends to detract from the intrinsic beauty of the object.

I can't wait to see one with a painted pan and a full english breakfast being cooked! It's almost the same shape...

Maybe it's my stomach doing the talking...

Hey Hilton,

Its great to have something unique, I would suggest a painting of the owners home break.

The Barwon Bluff would be great or Rincon at Bells etc.

Lovin your work with the C4 paddle any pics of your other paddles or boards?

Phill

I must agree with Gorgo, each to there own but you did ask the question.

Hanging on my wall yes, out in the surf no!

Love it awesome work

Great to have something different, would love a painted paddle.

I was quite partial to the broom stickers as well, was a great piss take on sweeper tag.

I've sort of changed my mind. My definition of "art" is seeking perfection in communicating an idea or a feeling, or emotion, or whatever it is you're trying to do.

A nude done with just a few lines might illustrate the body and convey all sorts of emotions so those lines are perfect for what the artist is trying to express and that's art.

So, in theory, if you did a painting on a paddle or a board, and it was just a picture of something, I probably would not be excited by it.

Generally when you see a shaped board come out of shapers room, or see a carbon paddle perfectly polished with just the right angle on the blade, and you experience emotions about it, that is art.

The design need not necessarily be about total function. The shape of a nose or the way the scuppers and drains on a race board merge into the hull could be drawn out in such a way that they are intrinsically beautiful and surpass the basic form.

Nup. Just bored.

If I was pissed I would have babbled on about how artwork must help the paddle to express it's innate paddleness.

To be more succinct, I'm not so keen on art on boards and paddles. I am very keen on boards and paddles as works of art and if artwork can enhance that then that's good.
