recieved an email from mark winson surfing qld,wa was the no show, the contest director called all team managers and it was either a reduced heat or include someone else, qld team manager jumped in first and claimed the spot.mark reckons the contest has started and only competitors can fill the vacant spot.( thats crap for starters because the contest for sup is on next sunday).if the qld team manager claimed the vacant spot he should have contacted the next in line that surfed the qld titles that being dane wilson then woogie marsh.i suggsted that the credibility of the qld qualifier was in jepardy and mark didnt seem to think it was.
i dont have a problem with josh constable surfing for qld or getting a spot but he didnt surf in the qld state qualifier and they should have done the right thing.
having said that, lets learn from this glaring error for future events

Sounds like we're getting to the point where we need a national voice. This means a national organisation for all standup paddling disciplines (surfing, racing and whatever else). The national organisation could still work with Surfing Aus and the outrigger orgs to run the contests/races but all the local clubs would tell the national org what events they want, national org would decide on selection criteria and how competitors are selected etc. All the detail would be sorted out by the national org, then the national org would work with whoever to run the events. Then any issues clubs or states have can be sorted out by the national org.
Only questions are who's going to fund it and who's going to run it?

once we get enough clubs in place we could organise a national conference then try to nut something out but we will need some control over what happens even if its by email conference.

forecast is looking pretty dim, may be a bit of swell but looks like it will be a strong northerly wind.

I think I'll bring my kite with me.

Gday,
They have been running the comp at Bonny Hills,a spot that maybe pretty protected for that wind,so pray for swell people, hate to see you guys having to grovel in 1' slope for the Aussie title!!!

Oh ok, I'm not sure about Bonny Hills but I'm pretty sure it's onshore in a northerly if I can remember right. We had the wave nationals at a place called middle rock which is basically down the beach from Bonny Hills and if I remember right, the beach curves to face onshore the further you get down.

Correct me if I'm wrong though
