Just working out my go pro for when the waves get big and off shore.
Really handy seeing foot positioning and how the board is responding.

Thanks mate glade no one is sea sick this time. The camera is about six inches above the head of the paddle and held on by nylon adjustable ties

Nice work. Lot less other surfers to negotiate than at my beach. What's your dismount strategy at the end of your closeout barrels so you don't get clobbered by your own board... kick board forward, turn into face, dive forward into foamball? Also interesting to see how much you can turn, adjust and trim- the Go Pro on the paddle shows that well.

Thing about the GoPros is the flatten out everything too much and really don't do justice to the surfer/surfing.

Bet Mr Mossop is loving you..;-)

Mr mossip lives in Bali now,he is very happy.
The main problem with the go pro is you have to keep it still for the best effect so I'm not using my paddle as much as normally do.
When the waves get big and every thing slows down it will look sick.
And when dismounting a close out tube body forward away from the board.

Thanks mate. It's the 8.0 ripper. I'm 77kg 5,11 tall.
The boards around 97,Lts in volume. Great board for all size waves for me.

Some lessons for some new starters there too... 1:14 - 1:17. Notice the toes on the rail (back foot), and then a very positive shift of the foot in the centre of the board for the cutback. You can also see the knees bending/extending, and the timing to generate speed.

Great stuf Jan, yer! you rip on the ripper what a ripper
I'm a lean 94kg 6,1 i got a 9,6 wide ripper, i find it fast and agile up to 2 foot waves but when on above head high waves its hard work to dig into the big turns due to the speed, i still have a long way to go but am thinking about where i progress from here (board wise), how did you progerss to the 8 footer.

Hi supvader
My first thought is for you to advance to a 9'3" type ripper, but not the wide version.
A narrower board should get over on the rail and turn easier and not give you that feeling of uncontrolled speed. The trade off is that it's gonna be more difficult paddling around IMO. You're young, you've got good balance and picked it up (sup) really quickly, give it a go. Borrow Feeze's board.

Go the 9'2 Wide Ripper Vader
The 9'6WR is 2008 vintage (the 9-3 is 2007!), the newer 9'2 Wide Ripper is waaay more refined for steeper take offs, more drivy turns and jamming it hard off the tail. The bigger and hollower the better it goes. Floats my 90kg just fine!

Robdogs right though if you can go narrower the board will handle even better when its big.

The 8'11 Ripper is a bigger version of Jan's 8-0.

8'11" x 28 1/2 x 4 1/4"
9'2" x 29 5/8" x 4 1/4"
