Currently in negotiations with the Minister for finance about a new board...wanter to take a few steps down from the 11'6 and had my eye on one of the following :

1) PSH 9'6 Wide Ripper
2) C4 9'6 Sub Vector
3) A surfshapes 9'6
4) Naish 9'6

I'm kinda leaning towards getting something shaped by Rod at the moment but was wondering if anyone could comment on the stability and glide of the differnet models...I'm abou 100 Kegs 5'9 without heels and would be looking to ride it anything from head high to double over head....not looking for anything longer as I will use it as my travel board as well..cheers

That's a VERY VERY nice board-I steal my wife's one every now and than and it is SUCH a nice board to ride.

A custom Aussie board would also be VERY VERY nice.......

Yep they are all good boards. Surfshapes can make something custom that should suit you but the others are very different from each other so it's probably best to work out which one will be better for you.

* Note just MY opinion:
Naish probably won't be as stable as below but turns really good, nice and light
PSH a bit more volume and stability than the Naish and a bit heavier but still performs well
C4 Sub Vector I have never ridden
I've only ridden 1 surfshapes and it went great. Light and loose

Goodluck, not the easiest decision!

I have the Naish and love it. It performs well but does take a while to get used to for stability after stepping down from 11'6". I am 93kg and would not want to be too much heavier then this for this board.
Have a chat with Laguna Bay Boards as they can custom to your need. That may be my next option come tax cheque.

I have 2 of the boards mentioned (well the surfshapes is 8 6") I am 105 kgs a bit over 6ft tall.
Both excellent boards, excellent quality and construction. The naish is super strong and very durable I am a big fella and give my boards a hard time, I have had this board out in solid powerfull, south west vicco juice at least double over head (maybe bigger) I rate this board 10 out of 10.

Surfshapes, even lighter than the naish, very strong, more surfboard shape board, this board rips. 10 out of 10. I would reccomend the surfshapes as it is custom made to you and is an Australian board , I rate both boards highly.

Laguna Bay's look pretty good. Pretty narrow though (performance flyers), similar to the JL's; just wondering if they're a little tippy?? Anyone tried this 9'4": http://www.noosasurfworks.com.au/surfboards/standup/flyerP-002.html

Just so you know, you can get the Laguna's custom made to what you want. Speak to Tully and he can point you on the right track

If you come down Sunday, you can also try the 9'6WAA if you wish just for a comparison!

Changing the fin sets in these boards makes a huge difference as well!

dollar for dollar the surfshapes by miles, ive got a 10.0 laguna bay for soft days and a 9.0 surfshape which surfs great in punchy surf, both are stable and paddle well, catch waves easily, btw i have no affilliation with either shaper other than believing in aussie shapers and product, both will do what you need, you can talk to both shapers, try that with an import.

I have ridden all these boards except the surfshapes imo not all these cut it for me. Dave Parmenter is one my favourite shapers and from all the info i've got on the 9'6sub vector it looks like the board for me. Nice concaved deck and built for high performance surfing. mine is ordered and due to land in september, can't wait!

Did you have a go on the ripper Phil? What was the main difference if you did?

Here is a thread comparing them www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=51236

Both great boards I have the Ripper and prefer its more surfing focus.

Hi all, I checked out the 9'6 WAA and Naish 9'6 ( both demo boards) at SHQ. I'm not sure if the PSH had taken it water or something, but it seemed significantly heavier than the Naish. Is this usual for the WAA?

I pick up a psh board today just to feel the weight, and I thought it was on the heavy side too.
