Good day,

I have only done SUPing once and would like to get into it, however I need an inflatable for transport. It will be a recreational thing and just around a bay, don't plan on trying to surf it or anything. I was wondering what you think of the

1) saturn inflatable SUP
2) tower inflatable SUP
3) Sevylor sup
4) Solstice Stand-Up

or any other in similar price range 500-650 ish..

I am 160-165lbs, primary users will be 155-180lbs.

Thanks for all help!

ps I have tried finding reviews online and youtube, didnt find a whole lot. Youtube is full of videos from the sellers/manufactures so its very biased and not useful

Thanks again

Maybe try posting on Standup Zone forum as these brands seem pretty foreign to me. Maybe the Americans know of them.

I bought a fairly cheap inflatable for travelling, and I regret it.

It paddles terribly, and was basically $600 odd down the drain.

If I ever by another inflatable, it'll probably be a better quality one at a higher price, and I'll definitely want to demo it first.

I think with an inflatable, it's even more important to demo it than a hard board, since a bad inflatable is REALLY bad!

The other thing is that technology/design of inflatable SUPs seems to have really come on in the last couple of seasons.
Anything really cheap is likely to be more of a Gen1 type glorified inflatable mattress compared to one of the later model known brand names.

E.g., check the star-board web page, as well as Naish and Red Paddle Co sites.

Dare I say it, but also demo the 'Stiffer is better' Stiffy from AdvancedElements.com and post back with how that one goes. A lot of us, well me mainly, are wondering if it can live up to its name!

It would be worth considering spending a little more $ to get a known-quality inflatable rather than potentially wasting $650 on something that can't be paddled in a straight line.

I know one guy here that got a Red 10' inflatable and really rates it as a fun board for small surf once the fin was on straight.

I'd be keen to read another independent review of the Red Paddle Co 9'2 Surfstar.

According to this guy, a self-confessed ULI enthusiast, the Red 9'2 is might be the stiffest inflatable yet.
