Thanks for the lookout MickV,
The news about Coffs Harbour, our worst ever flood.. I have had the kids at home for two days, My wife is in Brisbane and I was stuck on the Hway for 4 hours on Tuesday night and the kids were at school flooded in. The workshop had water thru it and I have checked it out this arvo, not too bad, about 30 buckets of water. I had raised everything off the floor, the water was flowing past my shop but coming into the shop thru the flooded box gutters, the street was flooded with knee deep water at my gate,I just got my car out. The worst was going thru 100mtr of knee deep water to get to the kids, I have naturalised my little Hyundai Elantra, so many other cars conked out in the flood water. Maybe it was just me having owned a 4wd in WA and learning how to drive thru water and soft sand.

Thinking of taking the family to Coffs for a week in the school holidays, after Easter. Less than two weeks away. Ya reckon it'll have subsided by then? Is the whole place a write off (traffic issues, damaged buildings)?

There is a story I always tell about the weather on the north coast of NSW. It comes from years of school holidaying up here as kids. The grandparents lived at Urunga, on the edge of the golf course and they had one of those river boat sheds, so every school hol we were at Urunga.

The things I remember most about the north coast are, in the Xmas summer hols it was always blowing a gale from the North East. In the Easter hols it was always wet or flooded.

Casso, things are nearly back to normal. The insurance work is moving along. The worst flooding happened in the CBD along the Hway stretch. The water in the ocean is brown and we had our first SW for nearly a week today, there is nearly a surf.

How are things up your way First point? You joined the Flood club yesterday.

My memories of going to Coffs as a kid was that if it was raining in Brisbane, it would rain in Coffs...and if it was raining in Sydney, it would rain in Coffs. Just always seemed to rain there, and rain big.

Well hopefully it is all gone for my couple of days in the area next week.

Yep. I love the northern rivers and always try to holiday there. I usually don't go away at easter due to the traffic hassles. But last easter I spent a week at Evans Head (great spot by the way, one of my favourites) and it rained solid for 6 days.

Gday Dog,
I am a youthworker.I worked for PCYC Kempsey for years, and helped the cops with kids who had been refered to them as part of their bail conditions,so through that we used to take them to the surf school at the rocks.Damo(owner) is good mate,so Iam now doing my level 1 flat water SUP accreditaton so I can do his SUP lessons on the weekends,
Robbo,
PS,just surfed the Bay wall again, not as good as this morning with the tide being high, but still some good bombs,

Its the equivalent of swimming one lap of a 50m pool every 2 minutes. Or 3 kmh. Its doable if you're in reasonable shape.

Thorpies splits for 50m are about 25 odd seconds

You're quite right. My apologies for the dodgy maths
