Why the red thumbs for DJ? This place is getting ugly.

There's no doubt that a lot of people would find this vid 'no big deal' or 'boring' or even 'what's so special about Blane'.

I know there's plenty of good Aussie shapers that are as good if not better than Blane.

I've watched Bob McTavish shape many boards and if I found a vid of him (or any other Aussie) shaping a new sup board I'd post it for sure.

Maybe it's because I took the vid from another site.. Geez I don't know..

At the beginning of the video---that has to be the cleanest shaping bay ever!

Haha!! That's my old shaping bay. It's really short at only 13'. I converted that room a few months ago for guys to come in and look at finished blanks. That room is only used to scrub an occasional board till my new room is done out back. New room is 20' long so I can do open ocean stuff too.

I put that vid together because a bunch of people not familiar with the industry were asking what scrubbing out a board meant. I do everything on the computer and use the shaping machine.

I like my bottom rails a certain way so I don't have them cut on the machine. I rather do it by hand. I also leave the tails and noses wild to. When scrubbing out, I take my time and have fun with it while grooving to good music... I'm in no hurry. I don't use electric sanders either. 20 minutes to 1/2 hour a board is fine by me. No pressure. Its all about having fun and visualizing each board surfing...

Right on............I thought something was up as it just looked tooooo clean.

There was a similar one on the ASP bells with Simon Anderson doing the same thing, "scrubbing" a surfboard. Wish there was a machine in SA.

there is one in ocean grove area ask dave boyd of imperial surfboards,he knows the guy and its an aku shape machine, easy to send a compter design over and get it cut,

Yo can order 'em machined from shapers.com and then scrub them when they arrive...dunno what the difference is price wise
