Hi,

Just got my board out of storage for like 3 months and there is a weird bubble under the grip pad. I don't think its water as there doesn't seem to be any gaps under the pads, do you think I just put a slight cut into it to release whatever it is or do you have any other ideas?

It is definitely spongy like it could be water!

This has happened to my Fanatic too...the only board I've had where this has happened (and I've got/had a lot) including those where I stuck the pad on myself.

My bubbles (I have several) appear when the board is warm and largely disappear in cold weather.

Thanks for that, I have moved this board from a cold place further north to where it is warmer, will see what happens to it over the next couple of days!

Have had one or two boards do this,,,small razorcut to release the air and if it's warm you might be able to stick it back down with it's own glue. If not a squirt of tarzan's grip into the hole and work it around a bit should do the job.

Just prick it with a pin. Or throw it away.

In the past - a little heat from a hairdryer and some pressure would have fixed it, but nowadays the contact adhesive has a higher tolerance to heat and it might need re-gluing. I'd steer clear of any form of silicone, hard glue (epoxy or the like).

A very small hole, syringe and some runny spray contact adhesive (take a small container to a joinery shop & they should give you some for nicks) should do the trick. Squirt it into the hole and work around the area. Some will come out the hole, so tape off - otherwise you'll be cleaning contact off your pad. Keeping in mind that it dries with contact to air (especially warm air), so by sealing it under the pad it may take a while to set. If you can keep it warm & dry, it shouldn't take too long though.

actually last night i was thinking there might be some damage under there - a ding . is the place you stored the board hot.it may be water coming out of the board but trapped under the grip. most likely not tho

Can be too: the glue staid on the board, the grip has let go from its glue up.

Cheers for the responses!

It has spent the week getting dry so tomorrow I will give it a tiny slit and see what decides to come out, will be sure to take pics in case its something good.

It was stored in a relatively cool spot and extremely dry so its quite weird.

i would be drilling a hole through the deck pad and fiberglass and syringing it full with some resin or anything, like 5 minuute epoxy from woolies even. Should drill another smaller hole for the air to push out as you fill with glue.
