In the near future we may see the "nanocomposites" applied to paddles, its starting to be applied to bikes etc.
A light paddle of today made with this material, that is being described as the strongest material that will ever be made, may weigh 17 times less.....30gms?

Wow!.. That's interesting stuff Dean.

I heard them talking about it on a science show once and how they could build an elevator/lift all the way to space and use as a cheap way to launch satellites etc.

Screw paddles. I want a carbon nano tube board.

Dean for a Bush Mechanic you sure use big words!

The only Nano Composite I know has to have a nap in the afternoon as her hip replacement aches

There is a can of the stuff here in Torquay, composites are being made & tested at Deakin Uni, it has amazing properties, structural & conductive.
But.....At $4000 a 4L can it may be a while before we see it in boards

(I have enough trouble with my boards blowing away now without making a Monoboard!!)

I read somewhere that Carbon Nano Tubes could be the next asbestos due to the scale and similarity of the fibres so be careful out there. Ill have one once its mixed with the resin.

Combine the Nanocomposites with a AEROGEL CORE like "FROZEN SMOKE" and you not only have the worlds strongest and lightest SUP but something only NASA could afford to build.

The technology is there right now to do it check it out here.
