I have been thinking lately how much I would love a channel bottom board for those glassy, clean days. Channels like the ones Al Byrne from qld does on his shortboards.

These channel bottom boards are magic in clean waves, but as everyone knows even on a 6 2" these boards go no-good in chop, but are excellent in clean offshore waves. Like every surfer I have a quiver of boards and plan on having one for my sub quiver(when I get some coin) .

Anyone seen one yet, cause I am sure they will rip and add a whole new dimension to short subs

Brooko, funny, Ive got an Al Byrne channel bottom in my quiver of shorties. And yeah, food for thought! It would pull a heap of volume of a an SUP? What would that mean? have to be wider and longer than a flatty? Love to hear AB's spin on this!

Will love to see some pics & see how you think it goes

Robbo, great boards those little Al Byrne boards, the fellow himself still charges for however old he is. When he came over to Margaret River 18 months ago he had no problem going straight out at 8 - 10 ft main break.

I also think maybe you are right about the volume buisness, still think it could work.

hi,i ordered a burton 6' 2" round tail quad(troy brooks style) with channels.yes they go well, but it was the same old story. chop is **** and i found i was easily dropping off waves at snapper when the wave got a bit full. i would believe you would lose glide. but if the waves are cranking- yeah
