It was a concern the other day when I noticed this on the tail of my 17' Jav.. Yeah that's spit..

I replaced the rubber O ring on the vent screw and all is good again..

Notice the new rubber on the left and old rubber on the right.

Looks like the old one has shunk a little.. Maybe it wasn't tight or had dryed salt where the O ring sits.

I bet your heart sank when I noticed it !

Glad all salvaged without damage to the beloved 17' DJ.

Yeah.. No damage..

Maybe this is why Starboard and Naish boards will soon not even have a vent screw in them..

In the meantime it's something to keep an eye on.. and maybe once a year replace the little rubber o ring just to be sure.
