Hi Everyone,
My company is sending me to Sydney to apply for a visa. No Embassy in Perth. So I'll be doing nothing for 2 days. I'm staying at Intercontinental Hotel, I think on Macquarie St in City, not far from Bridge.
I have 30+ years of surf experience & been Supping for approx' 3 years.
Keen to hopefully meet someone with a spare board & paddle that I can catch a taxi to meet or they can pick me up. Currently ride/have 8'5 8'11 9'0 & 9'8.
Something around 9'0 would be great but I'm not fussy, just keen for a paddle & look around. Of course I will put in for petrol & buy someone lunch or coffee or beers e.t.c. I'm 47yrs 75kg & 5'10" (weight & height for boards & paddles!) play guitar & badly sup addicted. I work on ships for a living, hence the visa. I know it's a strange request, but I thought I would put it out there. Not sure if it's ok to put my mobile number here? I'll bring my wetty & legrope.
Thanks & Regards,
Joe McClain

Hey Ronny,

If you were heading to Melbourne, Sunshine Coast or Gold Coast you would be sweet to hook up with fellow SUPers. Sydney is not as established for Sup (training or surfing). Over the North side of the harbour there is a few that surf regularly that You may be able to hook up with. I'm os at the moment or would be happy to hook up for a paddle at least.
Catch the ferry to Manly and walk to the Manly stretch up past Manly pacific hotel until you see a surf shop with heaps of boards out front. They hire out Sups. Good coffee next door as well.

Good luck

Hey Joe, main problem is that most of us have to work Thurs and Fridays to afford to live in the joint

Scotty's advice about the SUP hire is your best bet if you don't get a bite on here. Beauiful part of town as well with (usually) SUP friendly waves.

The

Sorry couldnt resist

Seriously I think they do SUP rental at Bondi and iconic or you could get a train to Cronulla go into Cronulla Paddle Shop (on the Kingsway) and see Thommy and he can rent you a board and paddle

You could do Manly one day Cronulla the next

No offence mate but Bondi is a complete hole and Cronulla is one big closeout and an hour from the city.

Them fighting words from the insular peninsular.............

The boys from the south are coming your way on the 10th - look out lol

No offence taken just giving our visitor some options and I agree bondi is a hole but seriously Cronulla is the bubble within "God's Country" however it is accessible by public transport - directly and its not an hour, more like 57 mins and a short walk to the board shop and even shorter walk to the beach or the bay I dont recall that offering on the Northern Beaches.........

Manly beach is a 5 minute walk from the ferry terminal and awesome harbour that is great for paddling also, SUP rental right on the beach as well I believe. No comparison.

Good to hear you fellas are coming up for the club comp

Hi Everyone,
Thanks for all your replies. I'll take Scotty's advice and head to Manly. I've been reading this blog for a few years and see a lot of names I recognise that replied to me. Much appreciated.

Have had a few friends of friends contacting me, but they are all working too DTM.

Thanks Again,
Joe (Ronny)

Ronny swing by the store - Balmoral Paddle Surf, just 5 mins from Manly at 6/410 Pittwater Rd and see 'Cap' - he has a tailer full of goodies out the back and I am sure you can twist his arm for a 6 pack!
