I am coming up to the sunny coast for 2 weeks is their anywhere to avoid so as not to upset the locals too much..Does anyone surf the Nth tip of bribie island to avoid the crowd at Kings.
I will most likly no even go to noosa as I think the crowds would drive me crazy.
thanks Rod

Hi Rod

North side of Bribie is uncrowded but here are my choices.

Blowing Northery:
Happy Valley. Espedially on the making tide.
The Pocket at Kawana (Just south on the Kawana Beach at Buddina next to the light house.)

Blowing Southerly:
Moffats
Carties (Though is a crowd at 5 people)

Low wind:
Wurtulla Rocks
Dickie Beach
Anne Street
Anywhere on the Kawana Stretch
Maroochydore River Mouth.
Coolum
etc

Cheers
Swaine

Hi Rod

ditto Sawnies

but don't discount Noosa...if you do manage to get a swell there it is an amazing spot and if it's not a huge swell there will be people but wont be a ****ty crowd..i mean if its only predicted 2 foot you should be fine with a few points easy paddling distance.

But forget it in a northerly. Have fun!

It depends on where you are staying.
I guess it's near Caloundra if you are asking about bribie
Noosa is a fair drive( about 60 min) from Caloundra but it is well worth it if the conditons are right, and weekdays are better for crowds.

Swanies on the money for places to paddle

Thanks for keeping Moffat Beach out of the list.No body likes a long right hand point break with a varied take off and a great inside section on high tide that picks up all the south swells.
Don't worry about the locals ,all are friendly happy children of hippies who love sharing wave with travellers....EXCEPT for access 13 at Buddina Beach, they make the Black Shorts/Bra Boys/DeHui look like pre school teachers.

Just make sure you wear a leggie if you surf at Moffat.

Locals are getting pissed off with some who bail and the board cleans up the line-up!!

I live at Shelly Beach

The only time there is a decent wave is on a NE swell at the Moffat Point end. It's a left hand break and pretty rocky. No way I'd attempt it on a SUP. It's popular with boogers and the odd short boarder.

The rest of the time Shelly is a shore dump. Deep water breaking onto a sandy beach.
