Hi,

Just wondering has anyone paddled in the Coomera Lake?

It is my closest waterway apart from the Logan River and wondered if we were allowed to paddle in there. I understand that there aren't to be any motorsied boats in there or is this lake for the sole use of the watersports club?

Cheers

I lived at Coomera from 1993 to 1996 and can tell u I saw more sharks on that stretch in that time than the other 25 years on the water put together.
Be careful.

The Coomera Lake? Is that the big rowing lake at Regatta Waters ?? If so I was thinking of trying that place out one of these days.

SupRookie - yes that is correct is is the one on the left near the boat ramp to the river. It has a big Watersports Complex on the edge of it.

There are permanent rowing lanes in there, however the Watersports Complex said that the lake is open to anyone's use, just no motorised watercraft are allowed in there except for model boats.

The only time motorised craft are allowed in there is if there is a rowing regatta. Council has advised that the Nippers are also using it for paddle boarding training - not sure when that is.

I went to investigate on the weekend as I saw the weekend prior that there was some sort of triathlon / swimming going on in there and wondered what it was.

If you are keen to go check it out, happy to meet you there and we can go together - safety in numbers - lol

Otherwise I plan to have a look at the Hinze Dam on the weekend.

Hey BG. I often SUP the Lake (on weekends). I think I measured 2 km to the end and back (Appr). The Wifey and I have a circuit we do, 2 laps of the Lake, then pull on the runners and walk the path around the Lake (about 4km). Good work out. Don't worry about the sharks. Haven't seen anything in the time I have been on the Lake (1 year). I used to do the Coomera River but the Wife didn't like to do it. Have SUPed the Coomera River from the Broady to the Boat Ramp at the Lake, about 13kms. Enjoy.

It was the river.....no lake back then I don't think....actually, not even houses back then.....it was a back water with a cricket ground at Coomera and the only other places of note were the road to Mt Tambourine and Movie World and the water slides down the road.

How times change huh....the freeway was 2 lanes each way back then too....it's 4 each way now I believe !

Enjoy the NEW south east QLD.

Thanks everyone for your responses.

I will be checking out the lake in the days to come.

I don't think that the river would be a fav of mine either as there are a lot of people fishing in there and a 13km paddle to the Coast with my current lack of fitness would just about kill me.

Your right Surfanimals back then Coomera was out in the sticks and not the thriving metropolis it has become. It is one of the latest boom areas for housing and is only going to get bigger now that they are developing Pimpama as well.

Thanks again and see you on the water.
