One of the dangers of internet buying!

There was a post on Seabreeze a couple of weeks ago, advertising 10.6 RRD sups.
These are not in fact the real thing...
This is the message from RRD which explains all.....

Hi Jez,

just to make long story short.
The boards are fake.
We were in touch with a Chinese factory months ago to start our production of SUP boards there. We placed a sample order to check the quality of the products and to make some tests.
The result was clear after the first delivery, the factory was not able to reach our standard quality and the boards were full of bubbles and de-lamination areas. We decided immediately to change the factory and do not produce anything there due to the really low quality standards.
Now I'm discovering with you that they made some boards with our logos and probably they are selling them directly.
I've already contacted my guy in China to go and visit the factory immediately to see what is going on.
If this is really happening we will bring them to court immediately.
The importer will aslo be breaking the law by selling conterfeit branded goods.
All these boards are not RRD, not covered from any kind of warranty and believe me that are made with worst technology on the market.

I suggest you to contact Seabreeze and tell them the true story.
I'm really sorry for the problem but this is the risk we have to take if we start to work with new companies!

regards.

Thanks for the post JEZ.

Interesting stuff.. RRD is a great brand.. I have a beautiful RRD wood venier mal.. Their windsurf boards and kites etc are all top notch.

It just goes to show that you can't trust the internet.

Hell, Thats realy bad. I remember a few kite sold here that were proto kites they looked the same as the final product just a verry slight difference in the bridle.

These kites were in no way meant to be sold and were proto types of a company.

I tell ya its mad, We had a bank here who has a eftpos machine outside and its false. It does the job enter ya number etc but what it does is not give you cash,
But takes your details and sends them to the black market.

And this was a bank with the machine on the side of there branch.

Unfortuantely everything is vunerable to counterfeiting these days.
Medicine, food and vehicles are other categories subject to recent counterfeiting scams by international crime sydicates and opportunists - not to mention the poor Canadian banknote which is the most counterfeited currency in the world (by an absolute mile....second is the U.S banknote).

I guess it was just a matter of time before they hit SUPs!! Thanks for the post and the heads up - no need for panic though!
