I've snapped heaps since my dawn of SUP.

have always used Ocean & Earth 10' knee cords, they seem to take a beating, stretch out to about fifteen feet then snap on seemingly the smallest wipeouts.

I like them, they are comfortable to paddle with, the stretch seems to absorb the shock of the board being taken by the wave.

but I am sick of snapping them. (warranties so far have been good, with no questions about replacing them)

I recently acquired a Creatures 10' outer reef cord.

the cord on this things a half inch thick!

the ankle strap is very uncomfortable, the cord is so heavy dragging in the water it upsets my balance and pulls me off the board.

the cord has zero stretch. wipeouts in head high white wash now feel like my leg is being pulled out of my hip socket by a dozen angry pig dogs.

does anyone here know of any alternatives...?

Stick with it Creatures Outer reef stretches and becomes more shock absorbing. My 10 footer is about 12 now I think.
Agree cuff not that comfy but they do not snap like the 5 different brands I had before.

I only use it in chest high and above, below that I use a shorter thinner leash to reduce drag.

Stay with the Creatures of Leisure.

Had mine since I started SUP, with the 12' and now 10'5" Starboard(s). Has stretched a bit, but still going strong.

We also use the Creatures Outer Reef in big surf and they do seem to stretch and ease up after a while.

I have tried 4 other brands but as you have experienced the rest are consumables.

Apart from my very first SUP, which came with a leggie, I've only ever used Creatures leggies and have never snapped one. I find them comfortable enough but I use the ankle version.

have broken four other leggies. Never the creatures outer reef. They do ease up but agree they do add drag. I have a thinner one for smaler days.

My only outer reef issue is I wore out the velcro on one after tonnes of use. Shows how long they last. Would only recommend the creatures.

I have only ever tried the outer reef leggie once when sambo, dogman and i played boards swaps one day. I had to keep looking back to see if dogman had tied a big chunk of weed to it! Too much drag and over engineered.

from a previous topic....

All our 7', 9' & 11' leggies come in 2 styles, lightweight comp and heavyweight. I use the 9' heavyweight with my 14kg Bombora Chaser and it has survived multiple big wave thrashings.
A big key to leggie survival is your actions when being dragged under water.
Try and play tug-a-war with your board straightaway and you will snap a leggie or leg.
Lay back and let the board drag you until the force dissipates and then pull back it will last forever.

Creatures has served myself well and i only have the 9ft waimea on my small sup. Very nice on my ankle, i've also got a 8ft O&E Bali leggie and that's very nice too.

My sup is 8'10.
