I suppose the question is if you can surf it why sup or kite it? I kite and sup but would prefer to sup a wave that good as kiting is restricting. If my neck still functioned I would shortboard for sure.

What do you reckon Greenie? SUP, Windsurf or surf? It is a nice wave.

All were ripping good vid thanks

Amazing footage for sure. The Kiteboarding thing I always kind of wrote off in the past but a few things I have seen lately are slowly changing my perception. Maybe it is a sport! Ben Wilson was ripping like no other I have seen, I think he's riding Emery Boards now from Byron Bay, he used to ride DHD's. Please don't be offended if you are a kiter, my only exposure has been tossers in the Currumbin Estuary going backwards and forwards and nearly running over my dog as she swims for a stick. All the while thinking they are killing it.

The first thing that sprung to my mind though was how unlucky you would be to be on that island at the same time as all of those guys, while great to watch I don't reckon your wave count would be great in that company of different craft.

There are pinheads in every sport, I'd suggest it's the individual, not the sport.

I've been kiting for years - it turns windy days into yet another surfing opportunity (...and it turns your garage into a board store!)

Top shelf video - great mates, great waves. Gold.

I agree Laurie, as I said the things I have seen lately have really opened my eyes to Kiting for sure. I'd honestly like to give it a try one day.

My missus would kill me though, shortboarding, longboarding, prone paddleboarding, SUP surf, SUP ocean/flat/dw, OC Paddling/Training/Competing. Not much room for another but you never know...........

Ben reckons that Dave K was really impressive on the sup
1 Stroke to spin the board and 1 stroke to paddle onto the wave -
totally unphased by the wave.

I'm sure the SUPer got barrelled on other waves, but he must be pretty cut that the one wave on the vid that he almost got barrelled on was a poor comparison to the kiters. I'd wonder why he chose to ride a SUP too, since it seemed like the wrong tool for the job.

I also thought it interesting that Beau Young (?) was marketed as a longboarder but was hardly riding a longboard.
