Wondering how people are finding these? Just saw a sale at surfboard warehouse and the prices look tempting....

Looking for a performance wave SUP to replace my prowaves, maybe somebody has done something similar and can give me some inside info.

I got a 10ft Evoke about 16 months ago. It was my first SUP purchase, so was looking for 'entry level' that was not too pricey in case I didn't like the board or SUPping in general.

It's a great board for a beginner (who has surfed a lot). Once I played with the fins a bit, I found it quite manouverable in the surf and it paddles flat water ok as well. Had it in overhead point surf as well as all types of beachies.

Now that I'm more experienced and comfortable on the SUP, I'm looking for a bit more performance and a bit shorter and less volume, but have been very happy with my Surfboard Warehouse experience.

Last week i was was out supping and got talking to a guy who was riding a 9ft Vex Carbon and he said he was very happy with the board and was surfing it really well. However I did notice that model seems to have disappeared from the menu.

Love the Vex's brilliant value for money and surf really well imo. Tough as. My current go to sup is the Vex 9', can't fault them. 8'6 is even better and i thought great on Qld beachies, but i found a bit too much hard work in Vic. chop and at reef breaks against 10+ sups, so went back to the 9'

I have a 9'6" Evoke bamboo that was my first board and did me well for about two years as I progressed from flat water to surf. Once I was able to catch waves and trim along the face I swapped out the fins and it gave it another lease of life. My wife now uses it on flatwater. It's a really solid board for learning how to SUP in the surf but not exactly a "performance" board at 9'6". The smaller ones might give you some more of what you're after. My only criticism is that the gloss coat chips pretty easily.

Very surprised they removed Vex. I reckon it was their best board. Evokes are pretty big. I had a Carbon Evoke 7'11. Great build but way to voluminous and wide for a 7'11. Struggled to catch any waves . As soon as I got on the Speeed 8'8 I realised how wrong the Evoke 711 was for me. I still have the Venom 12 ft. Awesome board for flat water and river inlet surf . Nice long rides and at only 28 wide and with pin tail is quite mobile even at my 60kg (but this board is also discontinued ) . The Vex Pro was definitely their best surf shape

Yep would agree, great bang for your buck! I have Big name brands as well and for the possible small difference
in finish I wouldn't worry. At the end of the day unless you are some sort of pro, i don't reckon you would pick the difference, performance wise! Probably not as much choice with measurements. Have had the 28 Mistress for a
couple of years and would like to get something narrower. ( And lighter ) There will always be an opening for
custom shapes, which you would expect to pay more for.

Agree with all the above. Have had a 9'6 Vex, 7'11 evoke, 10'28 mistress and absolute favourite is an 8'8 Mano. Can't fault the quality or service from SBW. No affiliation just a happy camper...

I also own 7'11 evoke it's my board of choice can't fault it and was also wanting to either buy another 7'11 or BamBam to find out company has discontinued these boards. Seems like company has stepped away from surf orientated sups :( which is very disappointing.

Shame they have wound it back, great value surf SUP's.

Wish i bought the 8ft Vex Pro. Solid unit and great value

Yep, it's the old story, something that is really good usually doesn't last! I may be wrong, but i believe that the SBWH
was sold and since then a lot of the good sup models have disappeared off the site. The original owner ( Tim ) was a surfer and had his finger on the pulse and was doing research and development, particularly with sup and coming up with some pretty good stuff at a great price. Unfortunately it looks like the new owners are not headed in that direction at least not with the sup. I have the 8' Vex which is a ripper of a board and also the 28' mistress , a great fun board to ride. I would have liked to get the Venom , a 12' gun style board, but unfortunately that also was discontinued. All the above mentioned boards ,I would say are good value, if you can find one. And if they are producing the same standard now, then what is on offer would be good value IMO.

I've still got the Atlantis Venom 12 ft board and the 10 ft Mistress Bamboo/pvc wrap prototype among other brands like Sunova Flash and DC 8fters. Venom is so much fun is small and big surf and the mistress is the best noserider style shape and turns easy off the tail with the single flyer pin tail. Chuck some Jackson Close thruster fins in and cwakes the board up.
Like golf clubs you need a few in the shed.
I can't fault either Atlantis boards.
