Don't know of others are aware, I certainly wasn't, qantas now charge you per item checked in regardless of weight. I just went to check in my bag and two paddles and they tried to hit me up for $90 even though collectively it weighed less than 15kg.

When i asked when it had changed they told me it had been that way for years. They changed their tune pretty quickly when I told them I flew st Christmas with a 9'3 free. "Did we day years meant months".

Moral of the story take your board Nah and stuff it to the brim.
