Hey all. I hope your all getting out there and paddling hard?
I am going to put in an FCS plug on the nose of my board tonight but had a question on the positioning.
Should I put it on the centre line of the board or off set it?
The reason I ask is because the lense is not in the middle of the camera.
If I put it in the cetre of the board would the footage look too off set?
The last mount I off set the mount just so the footage would come out in the middle. But I didnt want to mount the FCS plug off the centre line as it would look stupid when Im not using the camera which is more often.
Thanks for your thoughts

6 of 1, half a dozen of the other.....

I doubt it matters much either way. It's only aesthetics. Camera off centre a tiny bit, I doubt it would matter much, and a plug slightly off centre, does not matter much either... just get it in there, take some film, and post it here !!

or if you prefer.... 6 of half a dozen, one of the other !!

In terms of the lens being off centre on the camera, it's only about 1 cm off centre and with the fish eye extreme wide angle lens, I don't think you'd notice the difference. I haven't mounted an FCS plug for my GoPro, I just tape it down each time, nearly lost it with cheap Gaffer tape a couple weeks ago. With the FCS plug, do you have any control to pan the camera from side to side to realign the shot? No doubt you still have tilt control up and down.

My 2 bobs worth.
We run a fishing line from the camera(the housing, NOT the base!!!!!!!) back to the leash plug and cover it with wax on our mals. I would be trying different positions taping the camera down or using some of the surfboard mounts (about $19 each i think) until you find the perfect position. Take into consideration camera facing forwards, camera facing backwards because spinning the camera around doubles the effect of the 'offset'. The safety piece of fishing line is an essential though, with 4 kids I certainly can't afford to replace my GoPro.

Oh and by the way... Dont use 5 minute aryldyte to stick your FCS plug in. First it starts to get really hot. Then it starts to smoke. Then turns into hot jelly crystals
I hit panic stations and rang my good friend Rider who mixed up some proper resin at 10pm last night

I think the problem is those stupid double syringe dispensers.. They often don't give an even amount and I think if you get too much of one or the other it gets hot as it's going off.

Does anyone else know what's going on there? .. I think the two separate tubes is the way to go so you can get the amounts the same.
