I am looking to install a FCS plug in the nose of my Sup for GoPro. Just can't trust those adhesive surf mounts. I am not looking to DIY as there's a huge chance I will stuff it up. I am due to pick up my brand spanka PSH 10'10" Hull Paddler from Balmoral Boards next week and would like the heads up. I am sure AA has an answer - just thought I would put it out there on the forum. I don't think I believe in Santa anymore but I am starting remember the feeling of the night before Xmas until I get my new Sup.
It depends on if you want the board to look right with it centered.. or the vids to look right with it centered.. You can't have both.. I think I'd rather the vid centered but it's no biggie..
I've got my plug about an inch off centre and it lines the lens up perfect. Most shapers have done a few. Got mine done by Polsy on the Goldie. The 3M pads come off pretty easy. My misses works at Maritime Safety and the guys there reckon they get heaps of pads and cams sucked up in the sand pump at the Spit.
Thanks guys. Another question how does the plug work with the GoPro ? I.e. What connection/attachment do I use ? Is the plug a female thread which can have a screw inserted ? I have them on my Coastrunner.
I always wondered if you could drill a thin hole in the FCS plug to tie the go pro to, in case it ever broke the FCS tab. I saw a board yesterday with a FCS plug in the nose and a leg rope plug 2cm below it.
Obviously it was there for that very reason but it seemed over kill. What do other people do for that extra bit of security.
